Children's Ministries

At Salem First United Methodist Church we aim to help children grow in their relationship with God and provide every opportunity to enhance their sense of belonging as a a part of Christ's body, where each person is valued for who they are and treated with love, dignity and respect.

Activity Time serves children from birth through age 3 in the Nursery and pre-kindergarten through grade 5 in the Activity Center. Join us during the 8:30 and 11:00 Sunday services in a safe and nurturing environment where children can enjoy many faith and community building opportunities. Children 3 and older will go to one of the services to hear the children's sermon and then will return to the Activity Center for fun and activities.

The Nursery Bible Class is for children from birth to 4 years old (who are not yet in pre-school). Come to the nursery Sunday morning at 9:45 to hear stories about God and Jesus, to learn about characteristics of people who follow Christ and to interact socially with other children.

Kaleidoscope is the name of our rotational Sunday School. Children in pre-school through grade 5 are invited to Room 313 Sunday mornings at 9:40. Kaleidoscope is the place to be to explore our faith traditions with singing, prayer, art, drama, storytelling, games and more!

Faith Friends meet after the Wednesday With Friends dinner for fun, faith-filled activities for children from birth to age 10. Faith Friends begin with a time for faith building at 6:15 , moving into games, crafts and, yes, homework! Supervision is provided from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.

Parents' Night Out gives parents an opportunity for an evening out without the kids while the children participate in a fun, creative event just for them! This program, held on the second Friday of the month, is open to children from birth to age 10. Pre-registration by the Wednesday prior to Parents' Night Out is required and a $5 per child donation is suggested. Please contact Phaedra Parrish to register or call the church office.

Mini-Kids' Camp: We know that finding child care is sometimes a challenge for working parents, especially on school district in-service days and school holidays. School age children are invited to "camp" on those days:

Field trips, guest drama teachers and other fun events will be planned for faith building and fun. Invite your children's friends to come with you. They are always welcome!

Children's Choirs welcome children from age 3 through grade 5. For the little ones (age 3 through 1st grade), there is the Cherubs Choir. For the older children (2nd through 5th grades) Choristers Choir is the place to be. For more information, go to the Music Ministries page!
